Rockefeller Center
Public Art

Keith Douglas contributed to the coordination and operational management of major public art installations at Rockefeller Center, supporting complex stakeholder, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and deinstallation needs in one of the world's most active civic environments.

Anish Kapoor Exhibition | 2006
Keith Douglas played a role in the exhibition of a major public artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor in the Channel Gardens of Rockefeller Center. The engagement involved coordination across multiple stakeholders, including the Public Art Fund, Rockefeller Center ownership, and the artist's gallery representation, managing the complex logistics of fabrication, installation, maintenance, and deinstallation of a significant fine-art sculpture in a high-traffic civic environment.

Noble & Webster “Electric Fountain” | 2008
Keith Douglas supported the presentation of “Electric Fountain” by British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster at Rockefeller Center, a large-scale LED sculpture that reimagined the tradition of the civic fountain as a contemporary monument to light, spectacle, and consumer culture. Marking the artists' first use of LED technology, the work created a striking visual experience that transformed the plaza by day and night.

Chris Burden “What My Dad Gave Me” | 2008
Keith Douglas supported the exhibition of internationally acclaimed artist Chris Burden's monumental sculpture “What My Dad Gave Me” at Rockefeller Center, a dramatic 65-foot-tall skyscraper constructed entirely of over one million stainless steel parts modeled after vintage Erector set pieces. Standing at the Fifth Avenue entrance to the Channel Gardens, the work weighed more than seven tons upon completion and was presented by the Public Art Fund, free and open to the public from May through July 2008.

Ugo Rondinone “Human Nature” | 2013
Keith Douglas supported the exhibition of Swiss-born, New York-based artist Ugo Rondinone's landmark public installation “Human Nature” at Rockefeller Center, nine colossal bluestone figures ranging from 16 to 20 feet in height that inhabited the plaza between 49th and 50th Streets from April through June 2013. The exhibition was organized by the Public Art Fund and unveiled at a public ceremony attended by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Jeff Koons “Split-Rocker” | 2014
Keith Douglas supported the exhibition of Jeff Koons' monumental sculpture “Split-Rocker” at Rockefeller Center, produced in partnership with the Public Art Fund and Gagosian Gallery. One of the most celebrated public art installations of its time, the work required extensive coordination across fabrication, structural engineering, installation, horticultural maintenance, and deinstallation within the active Rockefeller Plaza environment.
